Located east of Makkah, approximately 22 kilometers away, Arafat is considered the greatest pillar of Hajj. On the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah, pilgrims gather there to perform the standing at Arafat. The site also witnessed one of the most significant moments in the Prophet’s biography: the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ standing at Arafat and delivering his Farewell Sermon.

Arafat is characterized by its vast, level plains, capable of accommodating millions of pilgrims. It features prominent landmarks such as Jabal al-Rahmah (Mount of Mercy) and Namirah Mosque. Well-prepared pathways, clear signage, and organized facilities help pilgrims move with ease, making the experience of standing at Arafat one that combines reflection, worship, spirituality, and organization.

The Day of Arafah — The Peak of the Spiritual Journey

Arafat is the greatest pillar of Hajj, where pilgrims stand on the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah, united in prayer and supplication in a majestic spiritual scene. Here, the equality of humanity is revealed as everyone leaves behind worldly distinctions and raises their hands toward the heavens, seeking mercy and forgiveness.

A Moment of Serenity

The pilgrim spends a limited number of hours on the plain of Arafat, yet those hours bring serenity, renew repentance, and purify the soul. Muslims feel closer to their Creator and leave Arafat with purified hearts and tranquil spirits.

A Scene of Unity and Peace

From above, Arafat appears as a vast gathering of white-clad pilgrims, with hearts humbly calling upon the Most Merciful. They unite upon the declaration of God’s oneness, seeking forgiveness and acceptance.
