It is the place where Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, stood while building the Kaaba, and the impressions of his blessed feet have remained there to this day. It is located opposite the door of the Kaaba, and Allah Almighty commanded that it be taken as a place of prayer for those performing Tawaf after completing their circumambulation, in accordance with His saying:

“And take the standing-place of Abraham as a place of prayer.”
